Glorious Goodwood starts during the first week of August, one of horse racings most popular flat meetings. The Totesport Mile on the 1st August sees Banknote trying to make amends for an unlucky draw at Ascot last time out. He could get us off to a good start at odds of 12/1, ¼ a place 1,2,3,4.
The following day sees two more top races, the Blue Square Nassau Stake and the Stewards Cup. I’m taking Lush Lashes 3/1 in the Nassau and an each way bet at 22/1 on Borderlescott to lift the Cup.
The 31st August sees the start of the US Open Tennis with Federer 5/4 favourite, Nadal 2/1 and Djokovic 10/3 with the rest at 20/1 or more. In the Ladies the odds are 5/2 Sharapova, 3/1 S. Williams, 7/2 Ivanovic, 5/1 V. Williams, 10/1 Jankovic and 20/1 or more for the rest. I fancy a repeat of the French Open result, Nadal and Ivanovic for a 121/2/1 double.
