This wild aromatic herb has been picked for centuries in Andalucia and is used for cooking and tisanes. You still see it being sold on markets as bunches of dried twiggy sticks. On rough, limestone ground the plant can grow to 1.5 metres. It has very small pink flowers and even smaller leaves. The flower colour ranges from very pale pink to a lilac-pink and are visible from June to September. Very occasionally in a prolonged summer like the one we have just had they will flower into October. This one was seen on Crestellina in mid October. The aroma as you brush past is pungent.
