Elaine Gornall started painting at John Wright’s art class at Estepona just one year ago, in June 2006. She uses acrylics on canvas and it soon became apparent that she has a natural inborn talent.
In her professional life Elaine Gornall designs dresses for ballroom and Latin American dancing champions, her client list is formidable, Karen Hilton, Gaynor Fairweather, Donna Shingler, Amanda Dokman, Sirpa Sutaari and Karen Hardy and a host of others. Elaine and her husband Tony were at one time ballroom dancing champions themselves.
With homes in Spain and England, Elaine and Tony divide their time between the two countries spending around six months in each but, as Elaine says, ‘We always return here on a Thursday so as not to miss John’s class on the Friday’. They decided to join the class to give themselves another interest here.
Elaine will tell you that she is still developing her style. There has certainly been a progression from the first work to her latest, particularly in her depiction of notoriously difficult to portray accurately, faces, hands and feet. At the moment she will allow that she has a ‘Romantic style bordering on the erotic’.
Her first painting was a self portrait looking through an arch. It gave few clues to the standard of work that would be produced within twelve months. We are bound to hear much more about this lady and her art.
